Slime Crimes Needs Your Help!

Volunteers needed for Watermelon Fest June 23/24!
Katie Parrish

Howcan you celebrate the start of the summer slime season? Watermelons!

Sierra Club's Red Tide campaign is looking for volunteers tohelp get the word out about our SlimeCrimes campaign at Fleamasters’ Annual Watermelon Festival on June 23rdand 24th in Fort Myers!
We will be collecting signatures in support of the EPA’s proposed standards for water quality called “numeric nutrient criteria” – these standards will help Florida clean up their waterways that are becoming increasingly “slimed” with toxic algae blooms fueled by sewage, fertilizer and animal manure.
All volunteers will receive a free Slime Crimes campaign t-shirt andare not required to stay the whole time or participate in both days. Although,if you want to you’re more than welcome!
If you can helpat any point, either day, please e-mail Justin jaboushay@gmail.com or call the SierraClub office at (239) 313-7202 and let us know what size t-shirt and when youcan join us!

When: June 23rd & 24th from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Where: Fleamasters’ Flea Market, 4135 Doctor Martin Luther KingJr. Blvd in Fort Myers

Sincerely,
Katie Parrish & Justin Boushay
PS: Help us make our Florida Slime Crimes Facebookpage a success! You can keep up to date with the fight to protect our watersfrom the impacts of nutrient pollution, get action alerts and help spread theword!
