North Captiva Marina Project Not Good for Environment

From: "Ralf Brookes" Ralf@RalfBrookesAttorney.com

Subject: Fwd: August 1 Hearing date North Captiva marina expansion, more slips, huge dry dock building and fueling station

All concerned citizens and Pine Islanders:
We need help getting pine islanders to oppose this offshore island (marina/dry dock/marine fuel station) project on the offshore bridgeless island of upper/north captiva.

PLEASE get the word out. The more people that show up in opposition, the better.

For those who may be up north and can’t make it to the hearing, they can submit written comments and make their voices heard in letters to the editor, civic organizations, etc...

Here is a link to the Hearing Examiner page where it tells how to submit written comments. http://www.leegov.com/gov/dept/hearingexaminer/Pages/default.aspx

Any written comments must be submitted in advance of the hearing as indicated on that page.

We can put together speaking points for those who wish to speak at the hearing, if necessary.

The subjects to be covered will be compatibility with the comprehensive plan, ecological impacts, and the need to avoid increased intensity on a barrier island.
See opposition report outlining issues attached.

The County’s planner is indicating that the North Captiva Marina case is definitely being set for August 1, 2012. It is being scheduled for the entire day. Please let anyone else on the Island who plans to attend know. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Ralf
